Prep report: Rebels stun Duluth Marshall girls hockey
Jan. 29—Moose Lake Area's Hallie Klavu and Gracie Hartl each scored twice in an 4-0 upset over Duluth Marshall Tuesday at Riverside Arena in Moose Lake.
Klavu scored early in the first and second, while Hartl scored midway through the second and added an empty net score late in the third period.
Ilsa Lindaman, the 2023 News Tribune All-Area Player of the Year, was held without a point for the first time since Nov. 18, a 2-1 win over Roseville/Mahtomedi.
Mallory Hartl needed to stop 13 shots for the shutout.
The Hilltoppers' Ray Anderson made 48 saves.
Three different Cloquet-Esko-Carlton players scored to lift the Lumberjacks to a 3-0 win over North Shore Monday.
Brooke Koski scored early in the first period, but Storm goalie Harper Powell kept CEC out of the net until Brayley Merrier scored 6 minutes into the third period.
Emma Parks added a third goal late in the final period.
Powell finished with 47 saves for North Shore.
Torrie Lane stopped 13 shots in the shutout for CEC.
Benson Peterson scored two first-period goals to lead Duluth Marshall to a 7-3 win over North Shore.
The Hilltoppers jumped out to a 5-0 lead before North Shore's Andrew Wehrman scored a minute into the third period.
Landon Hernesman and Bennett Scissons each scored for Marshall, before Ethan Meeks and Jacob Carpenter added late goals for the Storm.
Landon Wheeler made seven saves for Marshall.
Zach Bentler had 35 saves for North Shore.
Moose Lake/Willow River's Adam Neumann had 27 points and Nolan Nelson poured in 26 in a 107-48 rout of South Ridge.
Eli Youngs had 21 points for the Rebels and Luke Dewey joined him in double figures with 10.
Sawyer Fierkelepp led South Ridge with 13 points.
Barum's Alizondra Collelo scored 23 points as the Bombers rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to top North Woods 69-67.
Ella Heaton added 20 points for Barnum, including 12 in the second half.
North Woods was led by 16 points from Talise Goodsky.
Cherry's Faith Zganjar scored 20 points and Anna Serna had 19 in a 75-35 win over Silver Bay Monday.
Aunika Helms joined them in double figures with 10 points.
Ayla Simonson finished with 17 to lead Silver Bay and Izzy Carey had 14 points.
