Portsmouth's Driscoll loses no-hit bid with two out in seventh, Clippers beat Timberlane, 6-1

PLAISTOW – Boden Driscoll was one out away from a no-hitter, but the Portsmouth High School senior bounced back and the Clippers earned a 6-1 win over Timberlane on Monday in a Division I contest.

Driscoll allowed just one hit, striking out nine and walking two in the complete-game effort.

Portsmouth, which is now 13-5 on the season, broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning.

Jake Carlisle blasted two home runs and had three RBIs in the win, going 4 for 4. Sebastian Lampert also hit a solo homer. Devin Driscoll and Frank Krupp also had a hit for the Clippers, as did Zavier Lampert, his varsity hit.

BASEBALL

Nashua South 7

Winnacunnet 6

HAMPTON – Grant McCubrey’s one-out single to left field in the seventh inning brought home the winning run for Nashua South (9-8) in this Division I win.

Cam Hurrell, in relief of starter Jason Pinsonnault, scattered five hits and struck out over, allowing one earned run over the final 4 2/3 innings.

Brady Thompson had three hits for Winnacunnet (13-5), while Ethan Nowak, Miles Pratt, and Jake Fredericks (two RBIs) all had two.

Memorial 9

Dover 8

MANCHESTER – Memorial scored the game-tying run in the eighth inning, and plated a walk-off win in the ninth for this Division I win.

Ryder Aubin led Dover with four hits and three RBIs, while Brett Davis, Alex Cook and Wes Angers all had two.

Memorial scored four runs in the first, Dover tied it with four runs in the second, and the score remained 4-4 until Dover took a 5-4 lead in the eighth.

St. Thomas Aquinas 6

Merrimack Valley 3

CONCORD – The Saints scored two runs in the second inning and three in the third, improving to 12-3 with this Division II win.

Michael Skowron led STA with three hits and two RBIs, while Cade Murphy had two hits and two RBIs.

Derek Leedberg struck out five and allowed one hit in 1 2/3 innings of relief for the Saints.

Bishop Brady 10

Somersworth 1

CONCORD – Andy Cushing’s inside-the-park home run accounted for the lone run for Somersworth in this Division III loss.

Logan Perrault, Eric Goodrich and Simon Grandmaison all had a hit for Somersworth.

Exeter 11

Central 0

MANCHESTER - Sophomore Cam Piwnicki allowed three hits and struck out two over five innings as Exeter improved to 13-3 with this Division I win.

Ryan Morgado, Cam Keaveney and Jakob Schwartz all had three RBIs for the Blue Hawks. Keaveney, Schwartz, George Young and Cam Snee all had two hits in the win.

York 7

Poland 3

YORK, Maine - The Wildcats scored three runs in the first and third innings, and one in the second for this Class B South win.

Ben Brown struck out six, allowed three hits and one earned run over four innings, earning the win.

Jake Fogg led York with two hits, while Brown, Conor Fell, John Jacobsohn, Jack Joyce, Bradley Carr, Jack Jellison and Leo Sullivan all had one.

Newmarket 10

Epping 0

EPPING - Graham Willerer allowed three hits and struck out seven as Newmarket (14-2) ended its Division IV regular season with this win.

Willerer had two hits and scored three runs, while teammates Cam Moran (triple, three runs, three RBIs), Nick Nigro (double, two RBIs, two runs), Parker Sweitzer (two RBIs), Jack Ferrelli (RBI) contributed. Defensively, Alex Dyer starred in center field.

YORK, Maine – Senior Maddy Raymond allowed four hits and struck out 12 as York improved to 13-1 with this Division I win.

Emily Estes led York with three hits and two RBIs, while McKayla Kortes and Carlie Welch both had two hits, and Bella Santini had a double and an RBI.

NASHUA – Lucy Gelbstein had four hits, and Cay Adams and Aden Langmaid both had three for Winnacunnet in this Division I win.

Winnacunnet senior Kate Gagne had an inside-the-park home run.

BEDFORD – Hailey Strong allowed one hit and struck out eight for Spaulding in this Division I win.

Ky McLaren, Addison French and Meg Uraskevich all homered for the Red Raiders, and Anna Stanley and Caitlin Willis both had two hits.

Newmarket 8

EPPING - Kierra Souphakhot allowed two hits, struck out 15, had four hits, scored three runs and drove in one for Newmarket in this Division IV win.

The Mules ended their regular season at 12-4.

Gia Tilton had three hits and two RBIs for the Mules, while Emma Surina and Jadynn Rajda both had two hits, and Karina Jones and Lily Thompson each had one.

DOVER – The Saints scored all four of their runs in the sixth inning, rallying for this Division III win.

Ashleigh von der Linden blasted a two-run homer, her 12th of the season. Abbie Gaynor and Kaity Kelly each had an RBI double. Sophomores Maddie Hoyt and Amelia Anderson each scored a run.

Gaynor struck out five and didn’t allow a hit in three innings of relief, earning the win.

HILLSBORO – Sam Guilmette and Alex Moody both had three goals and one assist for Oyster River (9-6) in this Division II win.

Tyler Callander added two goals and two assists for the Bobcats, while Cole Levesque (two goals), Jadyn Smart (goal, three assists), Talon Beyer (goal, two assists), Liam Eddy (goal) and Harry Tudor (assist) all contributed.

KITTERY, Maine - Tucker Johnson and Eli Holben each scored two goals for Class C Traip in this loss to Class A Noble.

PORTSMOUTH - Charlotte Marston's four goals, including the 100th in her career, and one assist led Portsmouth to this Division I Senior Night win.

Ginger Vinciguerra added two goals for the Clippers, while Avery Ruhnke had a goal and five assists. Annie Parker, Morgan Ruhnke, Lily Patterson, Maggie Parker, Sadie Alati, Emily Kumph, Annie Campbell, Ariana Incollingo and Sally Collins all had one goal.

Portsmouth's Addie Delisle had two assists, and goalie Sage Bussiere had two saves

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine – Maddy Poitras scored the game-winning goal with 1 minute left in this Class A contest.

Poitras had four goals and one assist in the win for the Hawks, who are now 8-3.

Izzy Young led Marshwood with five goals and five assists, while Sarah Theriault had five goals. Eva Hersey also scored for Marshwood, while Lindley Gori and Lauren Walker had two assists, and Hadley Prewitt had one.

WATERBORO, Maine – Grace Clayton had three goals, and Ava Fontaine, Anna Doughty and Abigail Armlin all had one for York in this Class B win.

Reese Walenta added two assists for the Wildcats, while goalie Tia Spenlinhauer had seven saves.

EXETER - Ally Roeder and Hailey O’Kane both had four goals for Exeter in this Division I loss.

Bella Caracciolo added two goals for the Blue Hawks, while Izzy Steiner, Jaqueline Tobin and Alex Girard all had one.

Caracciolo, O’Kane, Caroline Burke and Gracie Pizon all had one assist for Exeter, while goalie Lily Blood had seven saves.

AMHERST - Abbie Kozlowski scored five goals, and Payton Denning had three goals and two assists for Dover in this Division I win.

Lily Hunt added two goals for the Green Wave, while Julia Rowley had a goal and four assists. Rylen Gray and Danielle Young both had one assist.

DURHAM - Sophie Royal's two goals and four assists led Oyster River to this Division II win. Royal reached the 200-point milestone in the win.

Wavely Oake-Libow had three goals and one assist in the win, while Elsa Puescher (two goals), Keira Ferris (goal, two assists), Grace Royal (goal) and Elizabeth Walent (goal) all contributed.

Oyster River goalies Sydney Haines (three saves) and Paige Haug (two) combined for five saves.

NORTH BERWICK, Maine - Sarah Carven had three goals, and Quinn McPherson and Mandy Rohan both had two for Class C Traip in its loss at Class A Noble.

Keira Alessi, Keira Durgin, Delia Hartley, and Celia Kehl all had one goal for the Rangers, who got eight saves from goalie Charlotte Masse.

VOLLEYBALL

HAMPTON - James Baker (12 kills, 12 digs) and Joshua Schaake (eight kills, five aces) led Winnacunnet (9-4) to this Division I Senior Night win.

Individual set scores were 25-18, 25-11, 25-15.

Willem Belanger and Michael Smith also starred for the Warriors.
