Portage HS scores | May 9: Crestwood track and field sweeps CVC Valley Division titles

Crestwood won the boys and girls team track and field titles at this week's Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division Championship, which started Tuesday and concluded Thursday at Berkshire.

The Red Devils edged runner-up Kirtland 149-148 on the girls side, while finishing 25 points ahead of the host Badgers on the boys side.

Freshman Livia Martini had a huge day to lead the Crestwood girls, winning titles in the 100 (12.70), 200 (26.66) and 400 meters (1:00.51). Martini also finished third in the long jump (15-6¼).

Fellow freshman Jackie Blasiole also excelled, winning the 300 hurdles (52.47) and earning runner-up honors in the 100 (17.37).

The Red Devils also racked up plenty of points with their throws as senior Lilly O'Bryant and sophomore Madison Sheridan finished two-three, respectively, in the discus, and two-four, respectively, in the shot put. Crestwood junior Daniel Doering also had a big day in the throws, earning runner-up honors in the discus (131-7) and shot put (47-4).

Another Red Devils junior, James Durham, swept the hurdles, winning the 110 (15.60) and the 300 (43.03).

A third Crestwood junior, Augie Schweickert, added a title in the 800 (2:07.21) and was third in the 1,600 (4:48.19). The Red Devils' distance prowess also showed with titles in the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.
