Portage high school scores | Dec. 8: Windham hoops tops Lordstown with balanced effort

Windham picked up its second straight win to start the season, 69-64 over Lordstown Friday's in Northeastern Athletic Conference boys basketball.

The Bombers set the tone with 23 first-quarter points with six different scorers. Dylan McCune had two 3-pointers during outburst.

Windham was similarly balanced all evening, with four players finishing in double figures: Carlos Bruton (19 points), Nick Hopper (13), Brandon Petrich (13) and Matt Kolaczek (11).

Down two at the half, the Bombers surged ahead for good with a 17-7 third quarter.

Aurora 49, Tallmadge 45

The Greenmen (2-1, 1-0) picked up a big road win in their Suburban American opener behind Cooper Carnahan's 15 points and 13 rebounds. Joshua Harrell added 12 points, and Zach Pannetti, Brock Habbyshaw and Ben Lukasik all notched four-plus steals for Aurora.

Girls Basketball

Mogadore 49, Buchtel 35

Down a point after eight minutes, the Wildcats took control with a 12-4 second quarter. Olivia Kidd (16 points) and Ari Tompkins (14) combined to score 30 points, while Julie Tompkins added two 3-pointers for Mogadore (2-2).

Streetsboro 65, Cloverleaf 30

The undefeated Rockets scored at least 17 points in each of the first three quarters in a Metro Athletic Conference game, taking a 19-8 lead at the end of a quarter and a 36-16 advantage at the half. Naomi Benson led Streetsboro (3-0, 2-0) with 18 points while Olivia Johnson-Wilson had 15, including two 3-pointers. Sydney Abbuhl (8 points), Ella Kassan (8), Kaileigh Lilly (6) and Madelyn Hajec (6) gave the Rockets six players with at least six points.

Field 52, Ravenna 16

Delilah Rahe had a double-double by halftime, finishing with 24 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Falcons (3-2, 2-1 MAC) to victory. Like Rahe, Abby Harlin (11 points) earned several trips to the line, draining six free throws. Field held Ravenna to single-digit scoring in all four quarters. Miriyah Sandifer led the Ravens (1-3, 0-3) with 10 points.

Crestwood 35, Grand Valley 29

The Red Devils bounced back from a sluggish opening eight minutes to score at least 10 points in each of the final three quarters. Crestwood (2-3, 1-1 CVC Valley Division) had three players score either eight or nine points: Becca Brady (9), Livia Martini (8) and Hannah Ward (8). Kaelyn Hart led Grand Valley with 15 points.
