Pickleball's popularity surging everywhere in America, except West Palm Beach

Pickleball struggling in West Palm Beach

As featured in the April 28 edition of The Palm Beach Post, pickleball is alive and growing everywhere but West Palm Beach. It seems to me that the city is closing its eyes to what our neighboring municipalities are doing to foster outdoor activities. Every other Palm Beach County municipality is growing their public sports offerings. Other municipalities have movie theaters, West Palm Beach sold out the only theater to Related Cos. The Carefree Theater project doesn’t quite meet the need. Boca Raton has five movie theaters.

Once you go south of the Norton Museum, there are no crosswalks. As Dixie Highway traffic continues to increase in number and speed, I would like to see the WPB government show some compassion for those of us trying to cross the street. Crosswalks are desperately needed to keep everyone safe when walking to the abundance of restaurants and shops along Dixie Highway. Look to the needs of the constituents, the character of the architecture and not so much to the needs of more high rises.
