BOYS BASKETBALL

Class 4A

Fairview 54, Lincoln Park 51 — After taking a 23-21 into the locker room at halftime, the Leopards couldn't hold on in the final 16 minutes of play, falling to Fairview 54-51 in the second round of the PIAA Class 4A playoffs. Lincoln Park (18-8) made just three shots from the field in the fourth quarter, all of them coming from sophomore Brandin Cummings who scored a game-high 28 points. Leopards junior DeAndre Moye also had a solid night, chipping in 11. Logan Frazo led the way for the Tigers (25-2) scoring 23 points in the victory. Fairview advances to the state quarterfinals where it will play WPIAL Class 4A champion Quaker Valley.

Class 3A

Freedom Area 56, Greenville 28 — The best year in program history continues for the Bulldogs, who defeated Greenville in dominant fashion in the second round of the state playoffs at Slippery Rock University. Defense was the key for Freedom (20-5), who held the Trojans (20-6) to just eight points in the first half. Shaye Bailey led the way for Freedom scoring a game-high 27 points. Julz and Renae Mohrbacher each had big nights for the Bulldogs as well, scoring 14 and 10 points respectively. Freedom Area advances to the PIAA Class 3A quarterfinals where it will take on District 6 champion River Valley on Tuesday at a time and location to be determined.
