Phoenix Suns to sign free agent center Udoka Azubuike to two-way contract

The Phoenix Suns have agreed to a deal with free agent center Udoka Azubuike on a 2-way contract, sources confirmed to The Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news.

In 2020, Azubuike averaged 1.1 points per game in 3.8 minutes per game for the Jazz.

He averaged 4.7 points per game in 11.5 minutes per game in 2021-22.

Last season he played 10 minutes per game and averaged 3.5 points per game.

He is a career 76.9% field goal shooter and shot 81.9% from the field last season. He played in 36 games with the Jazz last season, making four starts.

Azubuike played in the NBA Summer League with the Boston Celtics.

NBA teams are allowed to have three two-way players and Azubuike's signing gives the Suns their second, along with Saben Lee, who played with the team last season.

Azubuike played four seasons at Kansas, including when he helped lead the Jayhawks to the 2018 Final Four. As a senior in 2019-20, he averaged 13.7 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game. He shot 74.8% percent from the field.

The Suns' other centers on the roster are Deandre Ayton, Bol Bol, Chimezie Metu and Drew Eubanks.
