Pete Carroll comments on how Seahawks offense needs to change

For almost two months now, the Seattle Seahawks’ offense has been a shell of itself from last year – or perhaps even the unit we saw in Weeks 2 and 3. This unit has felt broken, struggling to find any semblance of rhythm or identity. Scoring points or even converting third downs has become a laborious effort.

Frustration came to a boiling point during Seattle’s 31-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and even their 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams – a game the Seahawks led both 13-0 and 16-7.

Head coach Pete Carroll recently spoke with the media to discuss what Seattle needs to improve on offense. His full comments can be seen below:

The Seahawks have a plethora of weapons at receiver, tight end and in the backfield – even without Kenneth Walker III. It has not gone unnoticed by the fans that it feels as if they are all being underutilized. Seattle needs to find a way to be more creative when it comes to play design and play calling.

Receivers like Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba should be factored into every single game plan. Tight ends like Noah Fant who provide mismatch opportunities and can catch the ball well should also be more involved.

Seattle has a gauntlet of games. Dallas, San Francisco again, then Philadelphia. If they have any hope of winning some of these games, their offense must be better than what we’ve seen as of late.
