Peoria High athletics director Brien Dunphy will be honored by the Illinois Track & Cross Country Coaches Association at their annual banquet next week.

He will be one of four honorees to receive the ITCCCA Distinguished Service Award, which honors those who support and contribute to prep running sports, on Jan. 12 at Eaglewood Resort in Itasca, Ill.

Dunphy's responsibilities include being manager for the Illinois High School Association state cross country meet at Detweiller Park along with hosting the state's biggest cross country meet — First to the Finish Invitational — as well as the Peoria High Invitational.

The former Manual and Woodruff cross country head coach became the Lions' AD in June 2011, taking over for Chris Perry, who retired after 35 years.
