Penn Yan falls to defending champion Bronxville in girls lacrosse state semifinals

The defending champs are still the team to beat.

Penn Yan hung with Bronxville for a bit but couldn't buck the Broncos and lost 18-8 in the Class D girls lacrosse state semifinals at Cortland High School.

It's Bronxville's fifth straight trip to the state championship game.

Bailey Cooper kept Penn Yan in the game early. She started the scoring to give Penn Yan a 1-0 lead. Bronxville rattled off three straight goals but Cooper bookended a 3-1 Pan Yan run with two goals to knot the game at 4.

That's when the Broncos took control. Bronxville scored six consecutive goals in less than six minutes for a 10-4 lead. It was 13-7 at halftime.
