Penn State up to No. 6 in Week 3 AP Top 25

Penn State moved up in the polls this week after taking care of Auburn in Week 3. After getting a nice bump up to No. 8 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll on Sunday, the Nittany Lions received a little more respect from the voters in the AP Top 25.

Penn State has been moved up to No. 6 in the updated AP Top 25 this week. The Nittany Lions were No. 10 a week ago after moving up in the ranking. Penn State is ranked the highest it has been in the AP Top 25 since reaching No. 5 in early November of 2019.

Penn State moved ahead of No. 7 Texas A&M, No. 8 Cincinnati, No. 9 Clemson (down three spots), and No. 10 Ohio State (down one) as the team moving the most within the top 10 this week in the AP poll.

Auburn, Penn State’s opponent in Week 3, only fell one spot in the AP poll this week. The Tigers dropped from No. 22 to No. 23 amid a flurry of changes toward the bottom of the AP poll this week. Among the changes at the bottom included No. 19 Michigan moving up from No. 25 and No. 20 Michigan State breaking its way into the PA poll for the first time since 2019.

No. 18 Wisconsin is the only other Big Ten appearing in the AP Top 25 this week, giving the Big Ten six ranked teams in the poll heading into the final weekend of September.

Here’s a look at the full AP Top 25 poll after Week 3’s results.
