Patriots release four players as roster cutdowns begin to unfold

As roster cutdowns begin to unfold, the New England Patriots cut four players on Sunday. Wide receiver Marvin Hall, edge defender Rashod Berry, offensive lineman Jerald Hawkins, and tight end David Wells were all released before the team took the field for practice on Sunday.

Hall was signed by the Patriots in June. He saw three snaps in Thursday’s preseason opener against Washington.

Wells was signed by the Patriots right before the start of camp, following time on their practice squad. He played 12 snaps on Thursday.

Berry was with the organization last year. He played 29 defensive snaps against Washington. During his Patriots tenure, he also played a bit on the offensive side of the ball. Berry was a tight end last year.

Hawkins did not see any action in Thursday’s game.

As New England prepares for the Philadelphia Eagles this Thursday, further evaluations will continue as the roster gets trimmed down.
