Who do the Panthers scoop up in ESPN’s 7-round mock draft?
Without any selections in the 2022 draft’s second and third rounds (at least for now), the Carolina Panthers have a ton of focus zeroed in on that sixth overall pick of theirs. But what would the rest of the landscape look like?
ESPN NFL draft analyst Jordan Reid took a crack at mapping that out. The brave soul released his seven-round mock on Monday, complete with all 262 picks. Yup, every single one of them—so someone give this man a can of coke.
As for Carolina’s haul, he began on a popular name with their all-important first-round selection—University of Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett.
“The Panthers’ quarterback of the future isn’t on the roster,” Reid writes. “Of all the signal-callers in this class, Pickett and Desmond Ridder (Cincinnati) are the two most ready to step into an NFL game and produce. With coach Matt Rhule having history with Pickett, this pick makes sense.”
Here’s how the rest of the Panthers’ take came out:
No. 137 (Fourth round): Thayer Munford, OT, Ohio State
No. 144 (Fifth round): Dominique Robinson, EDGE, Miami (OH)
No. 149 (Fifth round): Tyrese Robinson, G, Oklahoma
No. 199 (Sixth round): Akayleb Evans, CB/S, Missouri
No. 242 (Seventh round): Kennedy Brooks, RB, Oklahoma
Reid certainly addresses Carolina’s most pressing needs throughout. He has it covered under center, twice along the offensive line, off the edge following the departure of Haason Reddick and in the secondary with a versatile prospect.
