Packers, 49ers have long history, including nine playoff games

The Packers lead the series with the 49ers 38-33-1, dating to their first game in 1950. The Packers won two of the last three games the teams played, with both victories coming at Levi's Stadium, but Green Bay failed to win any of the last four playoff games against San Francisco. The 49ers lead the playoff series 5-4, dating to 1996.

Levi's Stadium is average at best

Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, was 15th in USA TODAY's ranking of NFL stadiums.

"For what it was supposed to be — a $1.3 billion state-of-the-art facility — Levi’s Stadium is a bit of a dud. It could be mistaken for a parking structure, and whoever decided to build multiple levels of east-facing luxury suites (with windows!) must hate the fans seated behind the visiting bench. That glare is no joke on a sunny day," reporter Andrew Joseph wrote.

Sara Oelke, a Packers fan living in Santa Clara, said the stadium has a wide range of menu options, with garlic fries being a local favorite.

"The area has lots of restaurants," Oelke wrote in an email. "The quintessential California food stop would be In-n-Out. The nearest one to the stadium is on Mission College Boulevard, but I would expect it to be swamped."

Getting around the San Francisco Bay Area

Packers fan Pete Bevelacqua of Santa Clara recommends flying into San Jose, rather than San Francisco. "The Santa Clara 49ers are nowhere near San Francisco. Other than that, Saturday traffic should be no issue," he said.

San Francisco International Airport is 31 miles from Levi's Stadium. San Jose Mineta International Airport is six miles from the stadium.

According to AAA, the average gas price in California is $4.56 a gallon.

Stadium parking ranges from $125 in distant lots to $499 nearest the stadium.

Public transportation, via the Valley Transportation Authority light rail is available to the stadium. Contact customer.service@vta.org or call 408-321-2300 for information.

How to watch or listen to the game

On television, the game will be broadcast on Fox, with Kevin Burkhardt doing play-by-play and Greg Olsen providing analysis, as they did for the Packers-Cowboys game.

Fans can listen to the game on the Packers radio network, whose flagship station is WRNW-FM, 97.3, in Milwaukee. In Green Bay, WIXX-FM, 101.1, carries the game. Wayne Larrivee and Larry McCarren call the game.

San Francisco is nation's 12th-largest metro area

Green Bay is the smallest market in the NFL, with a metro area population of 321,591, while metro San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward has 4.7 million.
