Pack your bags! Dolphins to head overseas, face Jaguars in the UK

The Miami Dolphins are officially headed overseas in 2021! The team has announced as part of today’s 2021 schedule release that the Dolphins will be one of the teams headed ‘across the pond’ to play as a continuation of the NFL’s International Series. The Dolphins were one of the teams originally scheduled to take part in the 2020 games before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the NFL to alter their scheduling and scrap international games for the 2020 season.

Miami’s 2021 opponent in the United Kingdom? The Jacksonville Jaguars and No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence.

It is a showcase of National Championship winning college quarterbacks (health willing), with Tua Tagovailoa bumping heads with former Lawrence — which should serve as an excellent representation of the young talent in the league for two teams that have recently hit the reset button and are committed to rebuilding through the NFL Draft.

The Dolphins and Jaguars contest will be the early slate game, with a 9:30 AM EST kickoff time on Sunday, October 17th. It will be considered a home game for Jacksonville.

The rest of the Dolphins schedule will be released this evening, but between the confirmed season opener in New England against the Patriots and now a trip across the pond to play in England, the Dolphins appear to be set for a busy travel start to their 2021 season — with two of their furthest travel trips of the season within the first six weeks of the season.

One can only assume that Miami’s bye week this season will fall close to the contest overseas — either before in Week 5 or after in Week 7.
