Oviedo, Pirates continue to struggle as losing streak reaches 6 games

When it’s going wrong, it’s going wrong. For Johan Oviedo and the Pittsburgh Pirates right now, things are certainly going wrong.

Oviedo struggled out of the gate in his start for the Pirates (20-14) and they were defeated 8-2 by the Toronto Blue Jays at PNC Park on Saturday night. With the loss, the Pirates’ losing streak reached six games.

The first three batters of the game reached against Oviedo. The last of which was an RBI-single off the bat of Daulton Varsho.

With two outs in the inning, Brandon Belt roped a two-out double to right field to plate a pair and extend Toronto’s lead to 3-0. Alejandro Kirk traded places with Belt to tack on yet another run in the opening frame.
