O'Steen leaving Ada to return to Wynnewood
Jan. 30—Brad O'Steen is leaving Ada after accepting the job as the head coach at Wynnewood High School.
O'Steen was previously Wynnewood's head coach from 2009 to 2013 where he compiled a 46-15 overall record.
O'Steen accepted the job as Ada's coach in June of 2021 and helped turn the football program around. The Cougars finished 3-7 his first year at the helm, went 7-4 in 2022, and this past year finished 11-2 and advanced to the semifinals of the Class 4A State playoffs.
"Coach O'Steen has worked very hard leading the Cougar Football Program the last few years. He had a great 2023 season topped off by a semifinal run," Ada Ada Athletic Director Christie Jennings told The Ada News.
"We appreciate his efforts in both football and track. I am positive that his work ethic will lead to immediate success for the Wynnewood Savages. Our athletic department and Ada City Schools wish him and his family the best of luck."
O'Steen spent three years as the head football coach at Lone Grove before arriving at Ada and also turned that program around. The Longhorns went 2-8 during his first season but then bounced back going 6-4 and 8-4. During his career, O'Steen also made coaching stops at Maysville and Madill.
Jennings said a search for Ada's next head football coach is already underway.
"We understand the importance of this position within our school system and a thorough and exhaustive search for Ada High School's next head football coach will begin immediately," she said.
O'Steen's family includes his wife, Tammi, and daughters McKenzie, Chesni, and Bradi.
