OSAA state golf: McNary's Colby Sullivan just one shot off the lead

McNary senior Colby Sullivan has put himself in position to win a state championship.

Sullivan shot a 2-under 70 on Monday in the first round of the OSAA Class 6A golf state tournament, and sits just one shot behind leader Douglas Bailey of Tigard.

The tournament ends Tuesday at Emerald Valley Golf and Resort in Creswell.

In the 6A girls tournament, Sprague’s Emily Keel shot a 5-over 77 at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks and is tied for sixth heading into Tuesday’s final round.

In 4A/3A/2A/1A girls, Cascade’s Maddie Dustin shot a 1-over 72 and is in third place at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis.

In 4A boys, Cascade’s Kyler Hemelstrand is in seventh place after shooting a 4-over 75 at Trysting Tree Golf Club.

In 3A/2A/1A boys, Blanchet’s Joseph Beyer shot a 4-over 76 and is tied for seventh. The tournament ends Tuesday at Tokatee Golf Course in Blue River.

Beyer shot a rare hole-in-one, according to a tweet by the OSAA. It was 170 yards on hole 11.
