Oregon women's basketball secures commitment from Arizona transfer Salimatou Kourouma

The Oregon women's basketball team received its second transfer portal commitment Saturday afternoon when Arizona transfer Salimatou Kourouma announced on Instagram she would make the move to Eugene.

A 5-foot-11 wing, Kourouma is from Kati, Mali, and started her collegiate career in 2019 at Grayson, a junior college in Texas. After earning Newcomer of the Year honors in 2020-21, averaging 18.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, she transferred to Little Rock in 2021 in Arkansas.

Kourouma spent two seasons there and was the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2023, averaging 17.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game across her two seasons. She transferred for a second time to Arizona for the 2023-24 season and played in 13 games before suffering an injury. She averaged 9.5 points per game off the bench in limited action.

The wing has shot 41.6% from the field but just 25.7% from 3-point range during her three seasons at Little Rock and Arizona.

The move follows another transfer exodus after a disappointing season for the Ducks. Kourouma is Oregon's second transfer portal addition after securing Siena guard Elisa Mevius earlier this spring.
