Olympics ‘Gold Zone’ to Stream on Peacock for 2024 Paris Games

Those who love watching NFL RedZone during the football season will see something quite familiar from NBCUniversal during the upcoming Summer Olympics.

NBCU announced that Gold Zone, a whip-around Olympics show, will stream live on Peacock during the Paris Games. The show will be hosted by RedZone veterans Scott Hanson and Andrew Siciliano, along with two members of the NBC family, Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila. Airing daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Gold Zone aims to provide similar “must-see” moments during the Olympics that NFL fans look for on RedZone.

“The Olympic Games are like no other sporting event, with up to 40 competitions happening simultaneously,” Molly Solomon, the executive producer and president of NBC’s Olympics production unit, said in a press release. “Given that scale, Gold Zone is designed to be the viewer’s best friend, streaming the most important moments in real time.”

Hanson has been the face of the NFL’s beloved whip-around channel, NFL Red Zone, since it launched for cable subscribers in 2009, helping fans keep up with scoring drives across the league every Sunday. This will be his first Olympiad, and he will handle Gold Zone’s early wave of events. He’ll be followed by Siciliano, who has hosted Gold Zone for the 2016 Sochi Winter Games and the 2018 Summer Games in Rio. Siliciano was the host of DIRECTV’s Red Zone Channel from 2005 until 2022 when the NFL moved its Sunday Ticket package to YouTube TV.

The show will close every night with Gbajabiamila and Iseman, the co-hosts of NBC’s summer reality/sports entertainment show American Ninja Warrior; the two return for their second and third Olympics, respectively. Both men helmed NBC’s Tokyo Live during the COVID-delayed Tokyo Olympics in 2021, and Iseman worked the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing. Gbajabiamila, a former NFL defensive end/linebacker, has been a co-host on CBS’ The Talk since 2021.

Gold Zone has been a staple for NBCUniversal for several Olympiads, but as part of a reimagining of its on-site coverage, this will be the first time that the show will air live on Peacock. The streamer has been bolstered by other sports, including the NFL, Premier League, Major League Baseball and WWE. In January, Peacock drew nearly 28 million viewers for its exclusive telecast of the Miami Dolphins-Kansas City Chiefs wild card game.
