Ole Miss baseball game vs. LSU enters delay due to lightning

Ole Miss baseball and LSU entered a lightning delay in the bottom of the sixth inning during the opening game of their series in Baton Rouge on Thursday.

Rules mandate that the teams come off the field for at least 30 minutes following a lightning strike. For every strike after the first, the timer resets to 30 minutes. The grounds crew at Alex Box Stadium also covered the infield with a tarp, perhaps indicative of a delay lasting longer than the minimum. The first strike came at roughly 5:45 p.m. CT.

LSU announced on its official social media accounts that it is shooting for a restart time of 7:20.

The Tigers scored individual runs in the second and third innings, then pounced on Ole Miss starter Riley Maddox for three runs in the fourth.

The lone Ole Miss run came from Judd Utermark's solo home run.
