Oklahoma’s Jordy Bahl named NFCA National Freshman of the Year Finalist
The Oklahoma Sooners pitcher has already made a name for herself in a very crowded Norman sports landscape. Jordy Bahl’s dominance has not gone unnoticed as the phenom has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s list as a finalist for Freshman of the Year. She was the only Big 12 player to make the list. Of the 25 finalists, five of them are pitchers.
Bahl is life.
Bahl has been nothing short of dominant in her first season with the team as she’s holds a 0.98 ERA and a record of 18-1.
She’s been an absolute force on the mound, throwing a perfect game and a no-hitter already in her short time in Norman.
Bahl was the No. 1 prospect in the 2021 class and has already made sure to show Sooners fans that she is worthy of such a distinction.
Here’s another crazy Jordy Bahl stat: she’s giving up less than half a hit per inning. Not run per inning. Hit per inning. She also has 181 strikeouts to 25 walks.
Bahl has already established herself on what has been the best pitching staff in the nation. Her ERA is ranked eighth in the country.
With Tiare Jennings’ win last year, should Bahl win the award, Oklahoma will be the first program in NCAA softball history to have back-to-back winners of the honor. Jocelyn Alo won it back in 2018 for the Sooners.
The winner of the award will be determined on May 3 after the list is trimmed down to the top three players.
