Oklahoma high school soccer: Santa Fe South, Heritage Hall chase state champion 3-peats

Santa Fe South has established itself as a dynamo in Oklahoma high school boys soccer.

The Saints have won 16 district titles over the school’s 23 years of existence. Next, they’re pursuing a bigger goal: a state championship three-peat.

With a perfect district record, the Saints (14-1) have posted 11 shutouts and given up only five total goals this year. They host Carl Albert to kick off Class 5A state tournament play at 7 p.m. Monday, and they aren’t the only Oklahoma high school program chasing a three-peat.

Heritage Hall girls soccer is also seeking its third straight state title. After going back to back in Class 3A, the Chargers have bumped up to 4A, finishing the regular season as district champions. Heritage Hall hosts Oklahoma Christian School at 6 p.m. Tuesday to open state tournament play.

All finalists will compete in Oklahoma City’s Taft Stadium unless two East-side teams meet in a championship game. If that happens, Tulsa University will host that specific match.

Here’s a look at more storylines and players to watch in the state soccer tournaments, which are set to conclude May 10-11:

Casady makes strong OSSAA debut

Casady is a newcomer to the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association, but that hasn’t been a problem.

After competing independently, the Oklahoma City private school has had a smooth transition to Class 3A competition in boys and girls soccer. Casady’s boys and girls each went 11-1 during the regular season with district titles, and the girls were the sole program to upset Heritage Hall this year.

Next, the Cyclones will make their state tournament debut. The Casady girls meet Christian Heritage at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home, and the boys follow with an 8 p.m. match against the same opponent.
