OKC Thunder fan hits half-court shot for $20K at NBA playoff game vs Pelicans

Jaylen O’Conner thought he had just one shot. And when it came up short, well, that was it.

But then he was informed there was more time. A lot more time.

So, O'Conner, a former basketball player, kept shooting from the halfcourt. Then the shot of all shots — worth $20,000, to be exact — went through the net.

"It was time to jump," O'Conner told The Oklahoman.

On a night NBA playoff basketball returned for the Oklahoma City Thunder as they hosted the New Orleans Pelicans, one fan had a night to remember.

First, the 23-year-old O'Conner received the millionth fan T-shirt given by the Thunder in its 55-game playoff history. Then he got a chance to win big money.

O’Conner hit a half-court shot to win the grand prize after multiple attempts, making a raucous Paycom Center even rowdier Sunday night.

"I didn't even know I had a shot clock," O'Conner said. "But I made the best of all the shots. To turn around and for them to say, 'You've still got one,' it was time to hit one then."

O'Conner played high school basketball at Edmond Santa Fe before playing at multiple colleges. He said he plans to use the money to start his own business.
