Ohio State to play at UCLA, USC as Big Ten unveils men's basketball framework

Ohio State will play two Big Ten men's basketball games on the West Coast this season as the conference expands to 18 teams.

Wednesday, the conference announced how many times each team will play each other and which of those matchups will be home games as part of its 20-game league schedule.

The Buckeyes will play two of the league's newest members only on the road and two others only at home.

The Buckeyes are set to face Southern California and UCLA in Los Angeles this year and will take on Oregon and Washington in Columbus.

In Jake Diebler's first season as Ohio State's coach, the Buckeyes will play Big Ten road games against Southern California and UCLA.

In order to get to 20 league games, each team will play three teams both home and away and everyone else in the conference just once. Ohio State will both host and visit Indiana, Maryland and Nebraska.

The Buckeyes will also travel to Illinois, Minnesota, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin; while Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern and Rutgers will visit OSU. Former Ohio State guard Roddy Gayle Jr. transferred to Michigan in April.

Dates, times and broadcast information for each game will be announced at a later date.

The Buckeyes are opening the season against Texas at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. They will play at Texas A&M and face Kentucky in the CBS Sports Classic, with a host city still to be determined. Ohio State will host its own multi-team event around Thanksgiving, with opponents yet to be announced. That leaves five non-conference games that will need to be finalized to fill out the schedule.
