Ohio State kept the momentum going at full steam on Sunday as they landed the commitment of Justin Ahrens, a 6-foot-5 scoring wing and one-time commit to the former staff at OSU. A member of the Rivals150, Ahrens brings toughness, athleticism and a confident scoring prowess to Columbus.

The top remaining Rivals150 prospect from the state of Ohio, Ahrens solidified his college commitment to the first-year staff at Ohio State during his official visit to the Big Ten program. The Buckeyes will rely on the younger brother of Michigan State forward Kyle Ahrens for his catch and shoot abilities and willingness to compete and contribute as an underclassman.

Ahrens, who grew up dreaming of playing for Ohio State, picked the Buckeyes over Michigan and Xavier.

“They are really cool,” Ahrens said of Ohio State. “They feel like they could use me right away with the roster they have, and I feel like I could be a great player there.”

Averaging over more than 13 points and three rebounds per contest on the Under Armor circuit with the C2K Elite program, Ahrens becomes the third perimeter commitment for Ohio State, all of them coming since Wednesday.

He will be joined by shot-making guard Duane Washington Jr. and defensive minded Luther Muhammad next fall along with Rivals150 forward Jaedon LeDee, a high-upside and versatile forward in Columbus. Now sitting with four pledges in the 2018 class, the Buckeyes continue to pursue further options at the lead guard spot with the likes of Andrew Nembhard, Will Richardson, Noah Locke and Elijah Weaver; they also remain in pursuit of others including Darius Days, Morris Udeze and Talen Horton-Tucker.
