Ohio State football running back Evan Pryor intends to enter NCAA transfer portal

Ohio State running back Evan Pryor plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal when it opens Monday.

“Going to miss my brothers,” he wrote Sunday on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Pryor spent three seasons with the Buckeyes, but a significant knee injury limited his role in the backfield rotation and kept him lower on the depth chart.

After redshirting as a freshman in 2021, he tore the patellar tendon in his left knee in preseason training camp the following year, sidelining him for the year. It was not until preseason camp ahead of this fall that Pryor was cleared for full contact.

Pryor appeared in four games and ran for 49 yards on 19 carries and caught a pass for 2 yards in a win over Minnesota last month.

A native of suburban Charlotte, he was a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle, signing as part of the same class as TreVeyon Henderson.

Defensive end Omari Abor and safety Cameron Martinez were the first two Ohio State players last week to announce their intentions to enter the portal. Vic Cutler, the Buckeyes’ backup center, also reentered Thursday as a graduate transfer after transferring from Louisiana Monroe.
