Odell Beckham Jr.’s season is over, but yours doesn’t have to be | The Fantasy Rush

Jared had been sailing along in all of his fantasy leagues, but for one of his teams, the season-ending injury to Odell Beckham Jr. could spell doom. To avert disaster, he needs the guidance of his co-host, Yahoo Sports Fantasy Expert Liz Loza. In the seventh episode of The Fantasy Rush, Loza looks outside of Cleveland for a new wide receiver, finds useful tools forged in the NFC East dumpster fire, and takes dressing up to another level by turning the tables on Halloween.

JARED QUAY: I've been having a great year in fantasy football, but I got to admit last week was a little scary. Maybe not as scary as Rudy Giuliani in that "Borat" movie, but still pretty bad. Check it. As you can see, all of my teams got winning records.

But every one of them-- every single one of them-- lost this week. But what happened to my squad Scare-red Quay, woo, that's gonna be hard to get over. See, my number one pick was Odell Beckham Jr., and he was done on Sunday after just one play and probably for a while. And the only guy I could replace him with had one catch for negative two yards. That ain't it, boss.

If Scare-red Quay wants to right the ship, we're gonna need some help at wide receiver. Is there anybody out there that wants to be OBJ for Halloween? So to help me with who's gonna trick next week and who's gonna treat, I'm gonna need the help of my co-host, Yahoo fantasy expert Liz Loza.

LIZ LOZA: Odell Beckham Jr. is a first-round draft pick and theoretically a once-in-a-generation talent. So I have some bad news for you, Jared. There is no such thing as just replacing him.

JARED QUAY: OK, what about a rebound?

LIZ LOZA: If you're willing to be flexible, we may be able to find a few different receivers to play the part. You just have to know where to look. After OBJ's injury, the Browns dropped 37 points on the Bengals, so you may be tempted to target Jarvis Landry or Rashard Higgins.

JARED QUAY: I know I am.

LIZ LOZA: But be realistic. Their game plan wasn't even built around OBJ. It was built around Nick Chubb. So there is no telling what their offense will look like from here on out.

Instead of trying to guess, I recommend taking a trip to the Big Easy. In week seven, wide receiver Marquez Callaway led the Saints in yards and targets. In fact, Drew Brees has now looked his way 16 times over the last two weeks.

JARED QUAY: That's all I need to hear.

LIZ LOZA: Except it isn't because late in the game he rolled his ankle and had to be helped off the field. Still, both Michael Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are questionable to return in week eight, which means even if Callaway can't go, the Saints may offer other intriguing options.

Deonte Harris made first team all-pro as a special teamer his first year in the league. And yesterday, he finally made himself useful to fantasy managers. Four catches on five targets and his first career receiving touchdown. If Callaway's ankle checks out though, throw him a claim. If not, there's still Tre'Quan Smith. Don't forget about him. And if you're really desperate, you could do worse than Deonte Harris.

The NFC East is one of the hottest dumpster fires in football, and I kind of love it. The division is 7 and 20, and the point differential is minus 184. And yet, if you can stand to look at it long enough, you will find a few pieces worth prioritizing.

It's not only what Terry McLaurin is doing for the Washington Football Team but who he's doing it against. Darius Slay, Patrick Peterson, James Bradberry.

JARED QUAY: Some of the best in the league.

LIZ LOZA: In week seven, Antonio Gibson set career highs in carries and yards. Part of that was just the Dallas D being, well, a steaming pile of D. But part of it was Gibson coming into his own. McLaurin and Gibson may not be able to lift their team to the playoffs, but your team? That's a different story. Don't give up on good players just because they're on bad teams.

Normally, I love Halloween. Oh, the costumes, the parties, magically finding a bite-size Snicker in your pocket that's all squashed up like a week later. These are great things. But because of the pandemic, trick or treating was banned in LA this year, so I guess there's no point in dressing up.

JARED QUAY: Oh, you just gonna skip it?

LIZ LOZA: No, I'm gonna do just the opposite.

JARED QUAY: What's the opposite of Halloween?

LIZ LOZA: Instead of going as someone else, I'm letting someone else go as me. Trick or treat, Jared.

JARED QUAY: What is this? Liz?

LIZ LOZA: Oh, look, it is fantasy expert Jared Quay.

JARED QUAY: Fantasy expert who?

LIZ LOZA: How many points is Christian Kirk gonna score next week?

JARED QUAY: How should I know?

LIZ LOZA: When is Hollywood Brown gonna have his breakout game, hmm?

JARED QUAY: I ain't no psychic.
