Mets vs Cardinals game postponed Wednesday due to inclement weather in St. Louis

The New York Mets will head home with a .500 record after their opportunity to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday was washed away by rain.

The Cardinals announced that the series finale had been canceled due to storms in the area.

The game will be made up on Aug. 5 at 5:15 p.m. It will be part of a chaotic part of the Mets' schedule with a one-day trip to St. Louis jammed between series against the Angels in Anaheim and the Rockies in Denver.

After being swept in three games on the road against the Rays, the Mets finished their road trip with a 2-3 record after taking two games with the Cardinals, 4-3 on Monday, and 7-5 on Tuesday.

With the results, the Mets are 18-18 entering a three-game series against the Braves which begins Friday night at Citi Field.

Jose Quintana had been scheduled to start Wednesday afternoon's game, while Christian Scott was slated to make his Citi Field debut on Friday.

Quintana will now start on Friday, while Scott will follow one day later.
