No. 9 Oklahoma scores touchdown with seven seconds left to beat Kansas State
Rodney Anderson’s 22-yard touchdown run with seven seconds to go gave No. 9 Oklahoma a 42-35 win over Kansas State.
With the game tied at 35-35, it appeared Oklahoma (6-1) was playing for a potential game-winning field goal. After a spike on first down, Oklahoma handed it to Anderson, presumably with the realistic goal of putting the ball where kicker Austin Seibert wanted it.
But Anderson bounced his run out to the left and found the edge on Kansas State’s defense.
Kansas State (3-4) tied the game with just over two minutes left after the teams traded scores in the fourth quarter. Seibert’s bobbled punt snap set KSU up in good field position with the game at 28-21, and Kansas State tied it at 28-28 with 6:40 to go.
Three plays later, Oklahoma had the lead as Baker Mayfield hit Marquise Brown for a 67-yard pass on the first play of the drive.
Mayfield finished the game 32-41 for 410 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He also ran for two scores.
The interception came on a pick by Kansas State defensive back Denzel Goolsby — a play that may be the interception of the season.
Kansas State meanwhile gashed Oklahoma on the ground. Quarterback Alex Delton, starting once again in place of Jesse Ertz, had 27 carries for 142 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Alex Barnes, who ran for a 75-yard touchdown on the second play, had just six carries for 108 yards.
