NK, CK, Bainbridge, Klahowya advance in boys soccer playoffs

North Kitsap (16-0) kept its season-long win streak alive Tuesday in the first round of the 2A West Central/SeaKing Bi-District boys soccer tournament. The top-seeded Vikings hosted No. 8 Washington and came away with a 5-0 victory to secure a state berth.

Pepe DeLuna had a hat trick, Mason Chmielewski and Ethan Peck added goals and Harper Sabari totaled four assists for the Vikings, who led 2-0 at halftime. North Kitsap head coach Greg St. Peter said the first 15 minutes were a bit nervy for his players, but the team didn't lack offensive opportunities and eventually put the game away in the second half.

"Once we got the third (goal), you could tell they were done," St. Peter said.

Last year's state runner-up, North Kitsap will host No. 4 Fife in a semifinal game Thursday in Poulsbo at 7 p.m.

Two other Olympic League teams were in action Tuesday for district play. No. 16 North Mason (6-9-1) saw its season end with a 2-0 defeat at No. 9 White River, while No. 7 Bremerton (9-7) lost 6-0 to No. 2 Franklin Pierce. The Knights host a loser-out game Thursday at 7 p.m. against No. 10 Sammamish.

Central Kitsap (13-1-3) pushed its way into the championship game of the 3A West Central/Southwest Bi-District tournament with a 2-1 shootout win over No. 5 Gig Harbor. It was the top-seeded Cougars' third victory over the Tides this spring and the team's second consecutive win by shootout.

Keegan Bailey scored in regulation for CK and goalkeeper Carson LeBeau made several key saves to keep the Cougars in position to win.

"He was sensational," Central Kitsap head coach Patrick Leonard said of LeBeau.

Central Kitsap takes on No. 2 Silas in the district title game Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Auburn Memorial Stadium.

In another 3A district game, No. 17 Bainbridge pulled out a 2-1 win against No. 4 Mountainview with Finn Reynolds scoring the game-winning goal in the 75th minute. The Spartans can clinch a state berth Thursday when they take on Timberline at Federal Way Stadium at 5 p.m.

Klahowya (13-2-2) secured a berth in the 1A state tournament with a 2-1 win over Cascade Christian in a shootout. The No. 3 Eagles face No. 1 Vashon Island in the West Central District title game Thursday at Lincoln Bowl in Tacoma at 7 p.m.
