NJ softball: Who's on the 2023 All-Shore softball teams?

The 2023 Shore Conference softball season didn't disappoint. Two teams - St. John Vianney and Marlboro - won NJSIAA Tournament section championships. The Shore Conference Tournament final went a nailbiting 10 innings with Donovan Catholic prevailing over St. John Vianney. Vianney won the Monmouth County Tournament and Jackson Memorial grabbed the Ocean County Tournament crown.

Here's a look at the season's top players who have been chosen for All-Shore recognition:

FIRST TEAM

JULIA APOSTOLOKOS

Donovan Catholic, P, Sr.

A New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year who’ll go on to the University of South Florida; over three years fanned 663 batters over 362 innings and belted 33 home runs with a .572 BA.

MADISON MCDOUGALL

St. John Vianney, P, Fr.

The freshman struck out more than 200 batters and was a losing pitcher just once – in a 10-inning game to Donovan Catholic – and she owns team-best .583 batting average with five homers.

MADILYNN BOYCE

Middletown North, P, Fr.

Boyce spun five one-hitters, recorded 10 shutouts and struck out more than 300 batters.

SOPHIA LOPICCOLO

Jackson Memorial, P, Sr.

A Central Connecticut State University commit, LoPiccolo in her final high school game reached hitting and pitching career milestones (100 hits and 300 strikeouts).

ELISABETH FIGLIOLINO

St. John Vianney, C, So.

St. John Vianney was No. 7 in the final Shore 2022 rankings but served notice that it was ready to climb upward in Week 2 when Figliolino crushed a three-run home run that gave the Lancers the lead for good in a victory over Mount St. Dominic, considered a big upset at the time. The sophomore has a team-high 45 RBI and belted 10 home runs.

HOLLY LOVETT

St. John Vianney, IF, Sr.

A Lehigh University commit, the senior – a third-team pick in 2022 - hit for a cycle with four RBI against Matawan. For the season she hit .528 with 10 HR and 35 RBI.

CHRISTINA GINEX

Donovan Catholic, IF, So.

The sophomore was a second-team All-Shore pick a year ago; in 2023 she hit .436 in 2023 with 5 HR and 33 RBI.

AMELIA SANTOS

The St. Bonaventure commit’s three-run homer accounted for all the offense in the Caseys' 3-0 victory over Middletown North in the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals. She hit .443 with six home runs.

JIANA MANISCALCO

Maniscalco, a Millersville commit, moved from third base to shortstop this season and delivered impressive results both in the field and on offense, with 34 runs, 5 homers and a .395 average.

CASSIDY RELAY

Colts Neck, OF, Sr.

Relay - a 2021 first team All-Shore selection when led the Cougars to their first-ever divisional, county, sectional and state titles in program history - returned to top form after missing just about all of the 2022 high school season. She’ll play collegiately at Division I UNC Wilmington.

ISABELLA MARIA

Donovan Catholic, OF, Fr.

The Griffins’ leading hitter (.535 average) turned around an unthinkable 0 for 4 game when she delivered a game-winning RBI single in the 10th of the Shore Conference Tournament final against St. John Vianney, the only blemish on the Lancers’ record. Maria for the season collected 53 hits with nine home runs.

JENNA GIATTINO

Donovan Catholic, OF, Sr.

Giattino has been named to the Premier Girls Fastpitch Watch List for each of the last two years and is a University of Delaware commit. 7 HR, 21 RBI, .449, 24 stolen bases.

AMY FITZPATRICK

Marlboro, Utility, Jr.

The outfielder delivered a walk-off sacrifice fly RBI in the 10th inning when Marlboro defeated Northern Burlington for the school’s first section championship. She hit .462 with 29 RBI.

GABBY GONZALEZ

St. John Vianney, Utility, Fr.

A .520 hitter with a team-high 11 home runs. The freshman was named Monmouth County Tournament MVP after Vianney beat Freehold Township in the final.
