NJ high school sports championship schedule shaken up by unhealthy air quality

High school sports championship games are being impacted by the unhealthy air quality in New Jersey caused by wildfires in Canada.

The NJSIAA pushed back Thursday's non-public baseball games in Hamilton to Friday. If those games can’t be played Friday, they will be pushed to Sunday.

“Due to air quality concerns, the Baseball Non-Public State Finals have been moved from today (Thursday, June 8) to tomorrow (Friday, June 9), same times and location," the NJSIAA said in a release. "Any tickets purchased will still be good for Friday's games.”

The NJSIAA is also condensing the two-day group track meets scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Franklin and Delsea high schools to one-day meets to be held Saturday. The meets will start at 9:30 a.m. and a revised event schedule will be sent to the competing schools.

As of now, baseball, softball, boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse games scheduled for Friday and Saturday are still on as planned.
