Nike releases statement of support for Ja Morant after latest NBA suspension

Nike is standing behind Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant after he was suspended for 25 games by the NBA Friday.

The shoe and apparel giant issued a statement of support for Morant soon after the league's announcement.

“Nike is pleased that Morant is taking accountability and prioritizing his well-being. We will continue to support him on and off the court," the company said in a statement.

Morant is one of 23 Nike-sponsored NBA players all-time to receive a signature shoe line. His Ja 1 shoes have still been released by Nike in recent months, despite the Grizzlies star's off-court issues. Various versions of the shoe have sold out quickly. A new Ember Glow color-way is expected to be released to the public on July 3.

Nike also issued a statement of support following Morant's first Instagram Live video in which he brandished a gun back on March 4.
