Night Hawks fall to 0-2 in loss to Bethel

Sep. 25—THOMASVILLE — Thomas University made their way up to McKenzie, Tennessee to take on the Wildcats of Bethel University. It didn't take long for this game to get out of hand as Bethel scored 20 points on just six plays.

A big return by Bethel on the opening kickoff led to excellent field position, which the Wildcats capitalized on with the first play from scrimmage. A punt return for a score and a five play drive resulting in a TD, led to a 20-0 score in the first quarter.

TU was able to strike back, putting together a solid drive finished off by a touchdown run from Jaylen White, who went on to lead the Night Hawks in rushing yards with 44 on three attempts in the game. Bethel would continue to pour on the pressure and went into halftime up on the Night Hawks 34-7.

TU's offense continued to struggle as they brought in QB Charles Britt, who brought some life to the Night Hawks offense. He led TU on an eight play fourth quarter drive that saw him pass for 53 yards, hit Julian Harper for 12 yards, and Brandon Denmark for 17. Britt capped off the drive with a rushing touchdown. Britt would finish the game with 66 passing yards on five completions.

The defense didn't have much to write home about as they allowed 62 points and 505 total yards of offense. However, history was made as freshman Rahiem McBride recorded 10 total tackles, making him the first Night Hawk to record double digit tackles in a game. He also had seven solo tackles.

TU will be back in action this Saturday in West Palm Beach, Florida as they will begin conference play against Keiser University.
