NFL bans Eagles' Dom DiSandro from sideline vs Cowboys after 49ers scuffle. Can it be longer?

Eagles chief security officer Dom DiSandro will not be on the sideline this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

That's because the NFL is banning him following a shoving incident with San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw last Sunday during the Eagles' 42-19 loss to the 49ers.

The Eagles confirmed the ban Saturday. It can turn out to be longer than one game. ESPN reported that the NFL is still reviewing additional material to determine if more discipline is warranted after DiSandro and other Eagles officials met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in New York on Friday.

DiSandro is allowed to travel with the Eagles for their game against the Cowboys and perform his regular duties during the week and game day. The only discipline as of now is that DiSandro can't be on the sideline.

The Eagles released a statement Saturday morning saying that they understand the decision.

"This is an ongoing conversation with the NFL, and we are going to respect the restriction that is currently in place," the statement read. "Although Dom will not be on the sideline this Sunday, he will continue to fulfill his role with the team in all other capacities."

The incident last Sunday began after Greenlaw wrapped up, then slammed Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith to the ground on the Eagles' sideline. DiSandro then yelled at Greenlaw and extended his arm toward him to keep him away. Greenlaw then swiped at DiSandro's face.

Both Greenlaw and DiSandro were ejected from the game.

On Wednesday, the NFL sent a memo to teams reminding them that non-playing personnel are not allowed to make contact with opposing players on the field.
