NFA's Ambruso leads The Bulletin's gymnastics all star team

The Bulletin is proud to present our 2023-24 Girls Gymnastics All Star Team.

This year’s team is led by Norwich Free Academy sophomore Trinity Ambruso, our Gymnast of the Year.

The gymnasts were selected from the following schools: Norwich Free Academy, Griswold, Plainfield, Killingly, Norwich Tech, and Ellis Tech. They were chosen from our daily top performers lists during the season.

Gymnast of the Year - Trinity Ambruso, Norwich Free Academy

The Wildcats sophomore won the State Open title in the all-around. Ambruso became the first NFA gymnast to win the all-around at the State Open in over two decades. Ambruso’s performance earned a score of 37.50.

Ambruso also won the State Open championship on the balance beam (9.725), was the runner-up in the vault (9.425) and floor exercise (9.35), and finished fifth in the uneven bars (9.0).

Ambruso tied for second in the all-around at the New England championships.

She also powered NFA at the ECC championships by winning the vault (9.420), placing second in the uneven bars (9.250), and finishing fourth in the all-around (36.1).

All Stars

Brenna Johnson, Plainfield

The Panthers senior won the State Open championship in the floor exercise with a score of 9.50. Johnson also tied for sixth in the all-around (35.60) and was tied for fifth in the vault (9.30).

Johnson was the top performer at the ECC championships, winning the all-around (37.55), balance beam (9.55), and floor exercise (9.6). She also placed second in the vault (9.4) and fourth in the uneven bars (9.0).

Jordyn Murray, Ellis Tech

The Golden Eagles junior won the State Open championship in the uneven bars (9.40).

Ella Pereira, Killingly

The Killingly sophomore placed third in the State Open in the floor exercise (9.15) and tied for fifth in the vault (9.30).

Pereira placed third in the bars, vault, beam and all-around (36.85) to lead Killingly at the ECC championships.

Jessie Williams, Killingly 

The Killingly freshman was fourth on the balance beam (9.150), fourth in the floor exercise (9.10), and eighth in the all-around at the State Open.

Williams was also the runner up in the floor exercise and sixth in the all-around (34.8) at the ECC championships.

Honorable Mention All Stars

Jayla Davis (Norwich Free Academy), Morgan Deojay (Killingly), Gracyn Goodale (Norwich Free Academy), Natalie Guzman (Killingly), Addison Lucier (Killingly), Ava Pereira (Ellis Tech), Morgan Sadler (Norwich Free Academy), and Allison Wojnar (Norwich Free Academy).
