Travis Browne Tore His Hamstring at UFC on FX 5

UFC 168 Fighter Bonuses: Ronda Rousey the Big Winner, but Travis Browne Scores KO of the Night

Travis Browne pulled up lame early on in his UFC on FX 5 headlining bout with Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva on Friday night and it didn’t take long for the Brazilian to take advantage. Noting the instability in Browne’s lead leg, Silva pressured the Hawaiian and blasted him with a big right hand, took him to the mat and finished him off.

“I think it was like the first kick I threw, my left hamstring popped like three times,” explained Browne at the UFC on FX 5 post-fight press conference.

Those three pops turned out to be significant. Browne went to a doctor on Monday to have it examined and reported back that he tore his hamstring.

“They said I tore my hamstring, ill be out for 2-4 months,” Browne tweeted. “Luckily no surgery.”

Despite the injury, Browne made no excuses following the fight, saying that he didn’t want to take anything away from Silva’s victory.

Browne sounded rather upbeat about the injury, however, thanking his family, friends and fans for their support before declaring, “I’ll be back stronger!”
