Tito Ortiz Fined for Two-Fingered Salute at Bellator 131

The feud between Tito Ortiz and Stephan Bonnar came to an end on Saturday night at Bellator 131 in San Diego. Ortiz took the honors, winning a three-round split-decision victory over his fellow UFC Hall of Famer.

But unlike many other feuds in sports, the two did not shrug off their past differences and make nice.

In fact, Ortiz gave Bonnar the double-bird, two-middle-fingered salute; not exactly the universal sign of acceptance. He also flung water on Bonnar, obviously unwilling to let bygones be bygones.

California State Athletic Commission Executive Director Andy Foster in turn fined Ortiz $2,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Ortiz and Bonnar may not be mending fences any time soon, but Foster considered the matter of Ortiz’s post-fight behavior closed with the assessment of the fine.

“I assessed a $2,500 fine due to unsportsmanlike conduct (rule 390) on Mr. Ortiz,” Foster told MMAWeekly.com. “He apologized, paid the fine, and I consider the matter closed.”
