Here’s something you already know: Manny Machado is straight-up ridiculous on defense.

He’s made Brooks Robinson-esque plays part of his regular repertoire, particularly when he’s playing third base for the Baltimore Orioles. In Thursday night’s 3-0 win against Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic, Machado’s Dominican Republic team had him playing third. And he delivered the highlight-reel goods again.

Watch as Machado fades into foul territory to make this play and then makes an amazing throw to get Miguel Cabrera at first base.

That’s fantastic any time of the year. For mid-March — when some players are still getting stretched out — that earns you some serious eye-pop emojis.

The Dominican Republic’s win puts Venezuela on the brink of elimination and sets up a D.R. rematch with Team USA on Saturday. Before that, Team USA has to play Puerto Rico on Friday.

Just for fun, here’s a worthwhile “Father Stretch My Hands” remix of the Machado play that we couldn’t resist making.

Machado is redefining what baseball fans mean they say, “That’s Manny being Manny.”
