Free agent Marreese Speights has reached agreement on a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told The Vertical.

The Golden State Warriors lost the flexibility to retain Speights after the arrival of free agent Kevin Durant and the signing of David West, clearing the way for Speights to reach a deal with the Clippers.

Los Angeles adding Speights eases the loss of backup center Cole Aldrich in free agency. The Clippers did retain free-agent reserves Austin Rivers and Jamal Crawford to help fortify their bench.

Speights' ability to lure big defenders out to the three-point line, as well as his own ability to defend size inside made him a valuable bench player for the Warriors.

Speights, 28, played three seasons for Golden State, the fourth team of his NBA career. He shot a career-best 38.7 percent from the three-point line for the Warriors last season.
