Richmond freshman Grant Golden has been admitted to a local hospital after collapsing on the court during Saturday’s game against Texas Tech.

According to a program spokesman, tests showed nothing definitive, but Golden will stay at the hospital overnight.

Midway through the first half of the game between Texas Tech and Richmond at Richmond’s Robins Center, Golden stumbled and fell to floor while running up the court. Full video of the incident can be found here.

Golden lay face down by the team’s bench for a few moments before receiving medical attention and eventually being helped to a seated position. He was put on a stretcher and taken to the locker room:

According to the program, “Golden was alert and responsive to medical staff on hand after collapsing at bench. Currently being evaluated in team locker room.”

Richmond head coach Chris Mooney gave another update after the game, saying Golden was undergoing tests at the hospital, and the team planned to go visit him after its 79-72 loss to Texas Tech.

According to a program spokesman who saw Golden in the hospital early Saturday evening, the freshman forward was “in good spirits.”
