Rockets acquire Robinson from Kings
Thomas Robinson is on the move after less than one season in Sacramento.
The 21-year-old forward, who was the fifth overall selection in the 2012 draft, is headed to the Houston Rockets.
Houston also picked up forwards Francisco Garcia and Tyler Honeycutt plus a second-round pick from Sacramento.
In return, the Kings acquired forward Patrick Patterson, center Cole Aldrich, guard Toney Douglas and cash from the Rockets.
"I'm going into a good situation for me," Robinson said, according to the Houston Chronicle. "I'm happy to have another opportunity and an opportunity to play every day. I'm going to bust my butt to get on the court. I'm going to a contending team (that) is a great challenge and opportunity for me."
Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie said, "We are excited about the addition of Patrick, Toney and Cole. They will add skill and depth along with the potential for a different look to our roster. We all want to thank Francisco, Thomas and Tyler for their efforts and contributions."
Houston also made another trade, dealing forward Marcus Morris to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for a second-round pick, according to numerous reports. He will get to play with his twin brother, Suns power forward Markieff Morris.
Morris and Robinson were teammates at the University of Kansas.
According to the Chronicle, the two moves will open up $1.5 million in salary-cap space for the Rockets after the season.
Robinson is averaging 4.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 15.9 minutes per game during season.
Garcia, 32, has averages of 5.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 17.8 minutes. Honeycutt, 22, is producing less than a one a game in limited action. However, he had been with the Kings for seven seasons.
Patterson, 23, is averaging 11.6 points and 4.7 rebounds. Douglas, 26, is contributing 8.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists. Aldrich, 24, has averages of 1.7 points and 1.9 boards.
Marcus Morris is producing 8.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game this season.
