John Tavares helped off ice in Islanders win

The good news for the New York Islanders: Their 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils moved them to 84 points, four in back of the last wild card spot currently held by the Boston Bruins.

The super scary potentially horrible news: Star center John Tavares needed to be helped off the ice late in the third period.

As the video shows, Tavares was going in back of the Devils’ net when he awkwardly collided with it, and then tumbled to the ice holding the back of his left leg.

After the game, coach Doug Weight said:

Yikes.
