Jackets put LW Calvert on IR

The Columbus Blue Jackets placed left winger Matt Calvert on injured reserve with an upper-body injury and recalled forward Jonathan Marchessault from Springfield of the American Hockey League on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Calvert has four goals and eight points in 17 games this season. He missed 19 games earlier this season with an abdominal injury.

Marchessault played in two games for the Blue Jackets last season in his only NHL action. He leads Springfield this season in goals with 12 and points with 26.

The Blue Jackets (17-19-4) have lost two straight games and are in seventh place in the Metropolitan Division with 38 points.
