Is Tom Brady happy for Donald Trump? Wife Gisele won't let him talk about it anymore

Tom Brady perhaps regrets having the “Make America Great Again” hat in his locker.

About 15 months ago, Brady’s friendship with Trump became news, starting with having the hat in his locker. Since then the New England Patriots quarterback, who is great at deflecting practically any tough question, has mostly tried to avoid talking Trump. It’s clearly not a subject he wants getting more attention, especially since the Patriots generally dislike any potential distractions not related to football. (Brady’s coach, Bill Belichick, didn’t seem happy that he had to address a letter he sent Trump, which Trump made public.)

On Monday at a rally in New Hampshire, Trump said Brady voted for him and gave Trump permission to share the news with everyone. On Wednesday, after Trump was voted the next President of the United States, Brady was asked why he gave Trump permission to share his vote. And it didn’t sound like he did.

“Why did I give him permission?” Brady said, after a long pause following the question. “So you’re assuming I gave people permission.

“I’m just going to talk about football.”

On Tuesday, Brady’s wife and famous supermodel Gisele Bundchen seemed to say on Instagram that neither of them supported Trump. Brady was asked Wednesday if he supported Trump, and he dodged answering the question by saying his wife told him to stop publicly talking about politics.

“Talk to my wife. She said I can’t talk about politics anymore,” Brady said. “I think that’s a good decision, made for our family.”

GIven another chance to talk about his relationship with Trump, Brady said he wanted to talk about this week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

“I just want to focus on Seattle,” Brady said. “I have a lot of relationships with a lot of people across and I don’t think a lot of people are entitled to what my conversations are with friends of mine or people I may speak with.”

Brady did give a longer answer that wasn’t specific to who he voted for. With a lot of headlines about his friendship with Trump and that maybe he supported him, Brady was asked if that would cause any issues in the locker room, given how divisive the election was.

“You have a lot of respect for the guys, and I certainly do, that I’ve always had for everybody in our locker room,” Brady said. “We’re all on the same team. We’re all from different places, different backgrounds, different ages, races, ethnicities, beliefs. But when you come in a locker room, you’re all trying to put whatever feelings you have about anything aside to try to accomplish a common goal.”
