Newark Catholic's Vanoy wins Hurricane Junior Golf title
Max Vanoy appears to be in midseason form.
The Newark Catholic incoming senior recently fired a 36-hole total of 148 at Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Indiana, to win The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour's College Prep Series 16-18 Boys Division.
Vanoy shot rounds of 75 and 73. He totaled eight birdies, finishing two strokes ahead of runner-up T.J. Quinn, of Shorewood, Illinois. Vanoy placed in the top 10 of seven of the 10 HJGT tournaments he played.
Vanoy helped NC win Licking County League and Division III sectional and district championships last fall before the Green Wave took state runner-up. The Green Wave finished third at state in 2021.
