Nets vs. Pelicans: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

The Brooklyn Nets host the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night at the Barclays Center, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at BetMGM.

The game starts at 7:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on YES Network.

The Nets won’t be at full strength for their opener, but we’ll finally get to see Brooklyn’s new Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons in action. Meanwhile, the Pelicans have high aspirations for the new season with Zion Williamson back in the lineup, and are projected to be among the contenders in the Western Conference.

Injury report

Nets: Seth Curry (left ankle injury recovery), Joe Harris (left foot soreness) and T.J. Warren (left foot injury recovery) are out.

Pelicans: Jaxson Hayes (left elbow UCL tear) is questionable. Kira Lewis Jr. (right knee ACL recovery) and E.J. Liddell (right knee ACL recovery) are out.

Advice and prediction

There’s too much uncertainty surrounding this Nets team – particularly with the duo of Curry and Harris out of the lineup – for me to feel comfortable picking a side of the spread here (though the Pelicans won four of five preseason games, for what it’s worth).

Instead, I like the over on Zion Williamson’s individual point total of 19.5. When we last saw Williamson play competitively, he was a threat to score 30 every night, and against the Nets’ defense, we could see him score a point per minute on Wednesday. He could conceivably have this wrapped up by halftime.

Prediction: Pelicans 121, Nets 114
