Nets’ Spencer Dinwiddie should’ve went 10th overall in 2014 draft
The Brooklyn Nets have the 2023 NBA Draft coming up in a little over a week from now so before that happens, let’s go back in time for a 2014 draft rewind. According to Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report, Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie should have been selected with the 10th overall pick in that draft.
Dinwiddie, who was originally selected with the 38th overall pick in 2014 by the Detroit Pistons, has been a starting-level guard for the majority of his career once his play improved to where it is now. Since being drafted out of the University of Colorado, Dinwiddie has averaged 13.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 41.7% from the field and 33.3% from three-point land.
Dinwiddie, 30, took awhile to get going in the NBA thanks to playing in just 46 games in his first two seasons due to him spending most of those two campaigns playing in the D-League (now called the G League) to develop. Since the 2017-18 season, Dinwiddie has averaged at least 12.6 points per game in a season in which he’s played more than three games.
