Nets rule out Nic Claxton for Friday’s game against the Mavericks
The Brooklyn Nets came away from Wednesday’s season opening loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers with more than just a devastating loss to begin the season.
On Thursday, the Nets announced that starting center Nic Claxton will not play in Friday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks due to an ankle injury. Claxton played 28 minutes against the Cavaliers and put up seven points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three blocks. However, there were moments throughout the game where Claxton was laboring as he was running up and down the court.
Nets Wire asked Brooklyn head coach Jacque Vaughn after the game about Claxton’s laboring and Vaughn said “no, that’s just a part of us trying to play hard and physical. I do want to build our guys up (to) maybe they have the ability to play extremely hard and 30 plus minutes, that is the goal.” The most likely replacement for Claxton is backup center Day’Ron Sharpe.
Along with Dariq Whitehead (foot rehab), #Nets say that Nic Claxton (left ankle sprain) is OUT for tomorrow night's game at the Dallas #Mavericks.
Last night, Claxton was laboring up the floor a few times, but Jacque Vaughn said that was because he was tired.
